Thalamus is a deep structure of the brain. Lacunar infarcts are small areas of loss of brain cells by the closure of small blood vessels. A small amount of liquefied material in the region of the brain is damaged, and absorbed, so that a small empty space known as a gap. TIA is a transient ischemic attack - because of a temporary loss of blood supply to a region of the brain.
